southborough hub

The revised plans for the Southborough Hub development were approved at Tunbridge Wells Borough Council on the 6th of February. Now the construction of the Hub by Baxalls can now commence and we hope that our Town’s new community asset will benefit all the residents of Southborough and High Brooms.

southborough library

In January, the Society Committee wrote to Cllr Mike Hill (Cabinet Member for Community and Regulatory Services at Kent County Coucnil) and James Pearson (Head of Libraries at KCC) to inform them of our position on the proposed plans for Southborough Library, within the Hub building. We believe the Library is best suited to its current position and you can read why in our letter here.

Cllr Mike Hill response to our proposal can be read here.

High Brooms Working Mens club

Tunbridge Wells Borough Council has given Planning Permission for the partial demolition and partial retention and improvement of the existing High Brooms Working Men’s Club.

The redeveloped Club will be smaller in scale, leaving part of the land to be used for residential units. Therefore the scheme, which has been agreed, includes the erection of a three-storey building, which will contain nine 2 bedroom flats; there will be nine car parking spaces and nine parking spaces for cycles provided for these units.
